Generative
(2018)
Generative is a sculpture in the line of bioarchitecture. My objective was to develop a porous scaffold capable of supporting a variety of plants and mycelium. This piece represents an advance in the development of spaces designed to increase the area available for biological organisms to thrive. Its porous nature allows roots and mycelium to colonize the entire interior and exterior space of the structure. Polycaprolactone is a biomaterial with the potential to biodegrade, generating useful resources for the organisms that comprise the sculpture. This piece was presented at TENT Gallery of the Edinburgh College of Art as part of the GRIKE project in September 2018.
